Aug. 18 LEARNING THE TRADITIONAL MUSIC INTRUMENT OF
INDONESIA
It’s cultural visit day; my favorite day! This time, we went to Angklung saung
Udjo. We watched the famous puppet of Indonesia named WAYANG GOLEK. The Wayang
Golek puppet show is composed of puppets with different characteristics and
facial expressions, Gamelan ensemble (the traditional music instruments) which
serves as the background music for the puppet’s dramatic play, and of course,
the puppet masters; Kudos to the puppet masters behind the entertaining puppet
show! They were so professional in controlling the puppets.

MASK DANCE (This was a bit shocking for us because we didn't expect that she would reveal a wayang mask, we thought that she was just covering her face with a hankerchief but when she threw the cloth and revealed the face of WAYANG, we were amazed.)

Then there was a group of kids who presented a song and
each of them has an angklung (another traditional music instrument made from
bamboo sticks) my favorite one.

Angklung |
The place at first sight seemed boring but when it was us
the audience who were engaged in the show, it was really a great experience.
Each of us was given one angklung per person. Each angklungs have specific tone
levels. Whenever the maestro shows the symbol of our angklung, we must shake
the instrument to produce a sound. And the whole audience played the song can’t
help falling in love by Elvis Presley. Plus the maestro let me sang the last
part of the song. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE to be able to feel the tradition
and culture of Indonesia. AN
UNFORGETTABLE ONE!
