SMP Pasundan 3
We first met Ms. Nofi, Mr. Dadang (wearing gray), Mr. Cheche, Mr. Dede,
Dr. Cartono , Dr. Yusuf(wearing blue), Ms. Suchi and the other faculty members of Pasundan
Junior High. They introduced us to our coordinating teachers and we talked
about our lesson plans. They said we could use the format we have back in our
country.
We were comfortable in interacting with the faculty
members. They were so hospitable and they never failed to let us feel at home.
They are also generous; they always let us taste their Indonesian and sundanese
traditional snacks whenever they have one.
First step into the door of Mr. Dadang’s 8th
grade classroom, all eyes were on us. We introduced ourselves to the students and
taught each other some words from our respective countries. The student’s were
hyped in interviewing us. They were curious about our first experience in
Indonesia. They asked us about our first impression to their country. They were
all eager to know our culture. We told them to speak English so that they could
practice their communicating skills using the universal language. They always
show courtesy and respect and they always smile whenever we meet along the
corridors. They are very friendly and energetic. They even asked for our
instagram accounts and communicated us there. The class was really hyped that
time and we managed to build a connection with each other in spite of the
cultural differences.
We visited again a few classrooms and observed how the
Indonesian teachers teach. Actually, I’ve noticed that we have the same
classroom routine back in our country (Philippines). The main goal is to
motivate the students right from the start of the class for them to have a
memorable learning, yet in a fun way.

On Mr. Cheche’s PE
Class, I can see that the students were eager to learn the lesson about
basketball because they were enjoying the practical activities. I bet it will
be a memorable lesson for them because they were able to demonstrate the topics
being taught and that sums up John Dewey’s, “Learning by doing.”

On the afternoon, we finally bought a month long wifi. It’s
hard to live without internet nowadays because our parents need updates from us,
and also we have to update our blogs.
It was really a fun day. I just realized I was smiling all
day when I felt the muscles in my mouth got tired.
My energy was drained from
the students’ hype attitude. It was indeed another day well spent.
Sampai jumpa besok! / “SEA” you tomorrow!
